Duhaime testifies before Senate committee on Great Lakes pollution

In July 2017, U-M Assistant Professor Melissa Duhaime, of the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, testified before the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries and Coast Guard. The committee held a hearing titled “Efforts on Marine Debris in the Oceans and Great Lakes,” which explored existing government efforts and possible solutions to marine debris cleanup in in our nation’s oceans and waterways.

Duhaime’s testimony focused on her research on plastic pollution in the Great Lakes.
